The Theory behind the Edumundo App

The Edumundo App uses mobile technology because mobile technology is able of enhancing learning at each point of the didactic design (Jahnke & Norberg, 2013).

The Edumundo App features a direct response feature, leading to higher motivation and better results (Laici & Pentucci, 2019).

Space for autonomy is provided within the Edumundo App sets, and the nature of the challenges encourages the learner to develop a sense of competence (Deci & Ryan, 1994; Wang, Liu, Kee & Chian, 2019).

How does Edumundo App work?

  1. Users receive challenges and activities on their smartphones. These challenges are part of a predetermined scenario.

  2. The users complete these challenges, individually or in teams, and earn points.

  3. The points serve as the basis for competition elements and rankings.

  4. Tutors follow the users' activities on a dashboard.
