Gamification of STUDENT ONBOARDING AND INDUCTION In Higher Education
Live discussion about smooth transitions of students from school to higher education.
In the June webinar we will be discussing the Brightbirds gamification app and how it is being used in higher education to facilitate improvement in the transitioning of students to higher education. The process often referred to as 'student onboarding' varies from institution to institution and is affected by a number of variables including but not limited to:
- The location of the academic institution
- The institutional culture
- The location of the student(s)
- The courses and modules chosen
- The method of study (remote, on-site, hybrid, blended)
- Institutional goals and personal goals of students
University admissions for new students is the first step in an ongoing process for university and college administrators. Once onboarded students are upgraded on systems to current accreditations, different modules and courses, clubs, societies and academic performance. So, the registrar office is always full of work and manual documents. During the high-volume time-the admin office itself is often going through a crisis of document sharing, approval, verification, collection, and storage.
On the other hand, educational institutions want low student attrition rates and are working hard to give the students a better (and faster) onboarding experience. In order to achieve this there are multiple departments who needed to work in sync to successfully onboard students. The registrar office is responsible for filling and share documents and student and course details, accounts to deposit fees, admin to get student ID and access cards in place, share library and other lab access details, share course material details and other miscellaneous information, etc.
In this webinar our special guests will unpack this use case of Brightbirds. The speakers will include:
- Luuk Van Loon, Education Specialist, Hogeschool Utrecht
- Merel Bambout, Assessment Specialist, Hogeschool Utrecht
- Christopher Jones, Student Experience Manager, University of Salford
- Leon Lloyd, UK Business Development Manager, Edumundo
