Simulations nowadays are being used in various disciplines, in an attempt to bring various business aspects from the real world in classroom (Faria, 1990; Faria and Wellington, 2004); business faculty recognize that simulation adds value in learning process (Zantow et al., 2005). When this experiential approach along with the lectures are combined, students are enabled to examine practically the process of decision making and to apply models and tools delivered in the classroom (Rachman-Moore and Kenett, 2006). This paper is about exploring the effectiveness of simulation games from a pedagogical perspective, as part of the business strategy module.
The paper firstly reviews the literature on the expected benefits to be derived from this training innovation. Secondly, the methods/process used to implement this pedagogical innovation in class are described, which is followed by the evaluation provided from students, before concluding with a discussion on how this innovation may be further used in the future.
Findings: The findings indicate that simulation games can serve as a learning device that helps students connect more to the real management world.
